Former Gogglebox star George Gilbey plunged to his death through a plastic skylight while working on a roof, an inquest heard yesterday.
The father-of-one is understood to have fallen around 10.6 metres at a warehouse in Shoeburyness, Essex, on March 27.
The Essex senior coroner formally opened the inquest yesterday before suspending it to await the outcome of a criminal investigation.
The coroner’s officer told the hearing in Chelmsford that the 40-year-old had been “working on a roof when he fell through a plastic skylight, landing on the ground below”.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence in connection with Gilbey’s death.
He was later released under investigation by police.
Gilbey was a favourite with viewers for his jovial behaviour and relationship with his mother and stepfather, Linda and Peter McGarry.
